Why do quilters join guilds? To be around other like minded people, to share their work, and to leave meetings inspired and enthused! We’re keeping this in mind as we plan the meetings for the year. Here’s what we have so far, and many other exciting things are in the works:
David Taylor Brace yourselves – David’s work is amazing and he’s winning huge awards. Take a quick peek at http://www.davidtaylorquilts.com/. We’ll be having a workshop with David, who is from Steamboat Springs, as well.
Only two spaces left for the David Taylor workshop Monday July 14th and Tuesday July 15th. Check the Workshop page for details and a link to the registration form and supplies.
Additional information will be posted when available.
Donna Brown is a Professor at the University of Wyoming, and has a Ph.D in Textile Technology. She’s taken top awards with her garments, including in the Hoffman Challenge, and is someone who really knows how to use every bell and whistle on her machine! There is a sample of one of her garments.

We are pleased to have Joan Sowada, studio fiber artist from Gillette, Wyoming, with us for her September 8th lecture, Artist Approaching, and a workshop on values on September 9th. Joan creates contemporary art quilts that capture a narrative of places and people, and her pieces are winning awards in prestigious juried competitions throughout the U.S. You can view her work at www.avacenter.org, as well as on the web site for Studio Art Quilt Associates: www.saqa.com. Joan will be conducting a workshop Values— Another Tool on Tuesday, September 9th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at The Ranch in Loveland. A sign up form and details are available on our website at www.r-m-c-q.org/workshops.html.
Additional information will be posted when available.
November 10th 2008—Putting the Frosting on the Quilt We hope to put together a variety show of mini-demos (15 to 20 minutes) by our members of embellishments that could include materials like paints, paint sticks, crayons, inks, foil, Angelina®, beads, buttons, crystals, sequins, shishas, rick rack, ribbon, cording, tassels and techniques of stamping, stenciling, appliqué, bobbin stitching, Sashiko, or couching. If you have been wondering how you can help this guild, short of being an officer, now is your opportunity. Contact Maxine Carlstedt and Janet Pugh at vpprogramsandworkshops@ r-m-c-q.org if you have a demo you could present. We hope to have 8 to 10 demos going on simultaneously. Don’t feel limited by the above list. We have a lot of members who are experimenting with some pretty unique materials. Maxine is looking for that plastic grass that comes on Japanese food trays! Additional information will be posted when available.
Member mini-lectures. Additional information will be posted when available.
