August Program
On Monday, August 11
th, Donna Brown will share with us a trunk show of her award-winning garments, from creative vests and purses to eveningwear and bridal gowns. Each piece is a work of art and exquisite workmanship. Her mastery of the capabilities of her sewing machine is astounding. Donna is a native of Sydney, Australia, where she earned a B.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Textile Technology from the University of New South Wales. Donna moved to Laramie, Wyoming in 1987 to join her husband on the faculty at the University of Wyoming, where she now holds the rank of Professor of Textiles, Merchandising and Design in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. Her faculty position combines her passions for textiles,art, and education. Donna enjoys sharing her knowledge, enthusiasm, and talent with students in apparel construction, fashion illustration and fiber arts. She enjoys working with a variety of
different media and techniques, although she prefers to work with natural fibers. Donna’s work has been featured in the
Everyone Loves Sulky Challenge, Hobbs Bonded Fibers Fashion Show, Hoffman Challenge, and the Fairfield and Bernina Fashion Shows, and she was a grand prize winner in the Inspired by Threads Challenge. “Jeweled Collage” vest and bag, with detail (left); “A Snowflake’s Journey” dress and cape, with detail (right)
