Maggie Weiss, was the guest speaker Monday night on July 11th at the general meeting. An art cloth and quilt artist; Maggie spoke of the meaning and the origin of feminine symbolism used in her art quilts and other artists art quilts. Her lecture was very informative and entertaining and held the attention of those attending with her entertaining stories. Her slide show showed how she and other artists have taken these symbolisms and have produced some award winning art. Maggie Weiss "Pop Art Quilt Blocks"
July 11, 2011
~~~~~
Participants learned the procedure for creating wonderful images on quilt blocks using a silk screen technique. Repeating images and changing the position produced some unique looks on the fabric which will certainly find its way into a striking future art quilt. There was a little bit of a mess but what fun these students had being creative! It was well worth it!
